Sophie is the newest member of the team, having joined Sovereign in October 2008. Sophie will be underwriting transactions for banks and trading companies, focusing on both the trade and project finance areas. Sophie comes to Sovereign from a 13-year career in banking, including seven years as a Senior Manager in Fortis Bank’s Global Export and Project Finance group in Brussels. In this role, Sophie was involved in the structuring of project finance deals and buyer credits in emerging markets with political risk coverage provided by multilaterals, ECAs and the private insurance market.

Sophie has a Law Degree and a Postgraduate Degree in International Relations from the University of Leuven in Belgium; as well as a Masters of Law Degree from the University of London, King’s College. She is fluent in French, English and Dutch.
